Abstract

In this article a large analytic cinematographic reading of Mamma Roma (1962) by Pier Paolo Pasolini is made, where mainly its connections and parallelisms with the concepts of the Christian myth and therefore with passages from the Bible are highlighted; parodic as well as fatal links to it are established. Also, reflections about his representations of society as well as about his main characters as tragic and alienated beings are made; in addition, conclusions are drawn about reflections on life contained in the film and its original methods to convey its messages are emphasized. Lastly, other films by Pasolini are mentioned.
