Abstract

Thanks to the unexpected success of The Department of Time

(El Ministerio del Tiempo, Pablo Olivares and Javier Olivares,

TVE: 2015-), Javier Olivares is now considered one of

the most important creators and screenwriters of TV fiction

in Spain. In this interview, he talks about his view on the

screenwriting profession, the creation process and the immediate

future of The Department of Time. He also discusses the

state of the Spanish TV industry and offers a critical review

of his successes and failures in his career as a screenwriter.
