Abstract

This interview focuses on thea ctivity carried out by Enrique Urbizu framed in Spanish film noir. We discuss his aesthetic heritage and thematic obsessions, his opinion about the archetypes of American film noir and its evolution in contemporary cinema, the mark of popular genres, and matters regarding the difficult coexistence in the framework of Spanish films: the credibility of the archetypes, scenery and narrative options inserted in a different cinematographic tradition. During the interview, we also talk about the screenwriter’s work, the political measures taken on films or the importance gained by the new formats and technologic media and their impact on film consumption, among other topics.
