Abstract

Of the four feature films shot so far by James Gray (New York, 1969), the first three of them, Little Odessa (1994), The Yards (2000) and We Own the Night (2007), belong to the thriller genre, where the filmmaker’s trajectory has been one of vibrant emotional intensity and complex formal structure which articulates an impressive vision of the fight between individual and family.
