Abstract

The first season of the television series Mad Men articulates an ambiguous and auto-critical parable about the evolution of American society from the sixties up to present day. Through the analysis of the construction of characters, the general structure and the evolution of plots, the most frequent forms of editing and their symbolic axis, this article explains the political importance contained in a textual approach that is projected to, and aims to enlighten, present times.
