Abstract

Crossmedia and transmedia share the multi-platform use of several formats to tell stories. The difference lies in the fact that, whereas the entire fiction is a product of the authors when using transmedia, by crossmedia the audience also participates in the making, sometimes even taking the place of the original authors. Throughout this article, we will analyse Lost Zombies as a crossmedia project in which the audience is the author, and Panzer Chocolate, a transmedia project in which the authors offer several options through different formats for the entertainment of the users. But we will not only consider entertainment: these new forms of communication can also be very useful to education. In this sense, Crocodox is a project for an interactive documentary for elementary students, still in the making. In a nutshell, this article presents the new possibilities crossmedia and transmedia give way to in a future that has hardly been outlined.
