Abstract

Chris McCandless is driven to start a journey through the North of the United States in order to get to know himself, due to the disenchantment he feels towards the society he lives in and the adventurous idealism of youth. On his journey, he meets people that make him regain the confidence in the human being. However, he never forgets about the main aim of his journey: to get to Alaska and live in nature. Directed by Sean Penn, the film is based on the book Jon Kracauer wrote about the real Chris’ odyssey. The book is a hymn to nature and to the need for putting an end to the inside demons to get a personal balance and complete happiness.
